Sirin Labs Launches Solarin: A Military-Grade Super Smart Phone Worth $14,000+

I never needed to buy a smartphone that had “military-grade” protection, but not all smartphone users are alike. Some people may value insanely complex security – or they just like the idea of using something that’s “military-grade.” The Solarin, pictured below, is supposed to be a high-end phone that has high-end security features built in. Unfortunately, it comes from a company that has no track record, it costs $14,000+, and it’s not really as high-end as you would have hoped.

There’s probably about $150 worth of components in this $14,000 phone / © BGR

Sirin Labs is a company that came out of nowhere to announce this phone, which has components that likely cost under $200 all together. The device runs an unknown operating system — though the image above seems to suggest it’s Android — and it features military-grade encryption as well as a “Security Switch” that will put the phone in a “shielded mode” and let you make secure phone calls.

“Solarin comes with Zimperium state-of-the-art mobile threat protection that thwarts the broadest array of advanced device, network, and application mobile cyberattacks, without impairing usability or functionality of a top-of-the-range smartphone,” the company explained in its  press release. “In addition, Solarin incorporates the most advanced privacy technology, currently unavailable outside the agency world. Sirin Labs partnered with KoolSpan to integrate chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption, the same technology that militaries around the world use to protect their communications, offering the strongest possible mobile privacy protection worldwide.”

The phone’s features aren’t high-end by this year’s standards, but the Solarin would be a top of the line device in 2015. It packs a 5.5-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 23.8-megapixel camera with laser-assisted autofocus, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 4,040 mAh battery. It even comes with mesmerizing Wi-Fi capabilities, including WiGig (802.11ad) multi-gigabit Wi-Fi technology, and 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi support that’ll be useless in most households. Check out more specifications at gadgets

Of course, if the phone doesn’t run Android then you’d end up with an overpriced 5.5-inch handset that can’t run any apps, and all that military-grade encryption probably isn’t worth it. But digging deeper on the company’s website, you discover the phone indeed packs Android under the hood, though it’s not on the latest release. Instead, it’ll run Android 5.1.1 out of the box.

OK, so maybe it’s a little more expensive to make than some other flagship handsets, but if you need a $14,000+ phone to make sure your chats and calls are encrypted, then you might have bigger problems to deal with than coming up with $14K.

The Solarin will be available online and at the Sirin Labs website in the UK this month June. Meanwhile, don’t forget to check out a trailer for it:

Best 6 Xposed Framework modules You Shouldn't Be Without

For top to bottom customization of your smartphone, there might not be a better solution than Xposed Framework. Supporting advanced configurations, settings, and all new features, the Xposed Framework is a free, easy to use and comprehensive platform. Take your Android into another dimension with our list of the best Xposed Framework modules you can get.

What is Xposed Framework?

Xposed Framework is a software platform which allows for the installation of specialist modules (similar to apps) which can alter Android system behavior beyond what is normally possible. Think of it as a sort of Google Play for power users.

It's limited to rooted devices but this also means that the capabilities of compatible modules extend beyond what other, "normal" apps can do.

These different modules come in many types and cover almost everything imaginable in Android. You can change the color of your entire system, gain control of any customization option, and change how each aspect of your device acts.

So Xposed. / © AndroidPIT

How do I install Xposed Framework?

To install Xposed Framework, consult the linked thread from the XDA Developers forum and note once again that your device will need to be rooted and with a customer recovery installed. Since November 2015, support for the Xposed Framework extends to Android Marshmallow-based ROMs.

Individual modules are downloaded and installed from within the Xposed Framework app or from the Xposed Module Repository website. Below is a selection of the favorite modules available for Xposed Framework.

1. LockScreen Mods

LockScreen Mods is a simple and effective lockscreen shortcut creator. There are six slots in which you can assign apps to be quickly launched without unlocking your device.

It looks good, it's useful and it works; LockScreen Mods is a classic example of how Xposed Framework can provide worthy improvements to your handset.

2. XMultiWindow

This module is convenient for multitasking with a large screen. It allows you to make use of a multiwindow-style layout as can be found on Samsung phablets (among other devices).

You can work with multiple applications simultaneously with apps organized in windows at the top and bottom (or left and right) of the screen. To get the best out of this module, you should probably be using a device with a 5-inch screen or larger but I'm guessing you probably do.

3. Never Sleep

This isn't a particularly new module but it remains useful. Do you get frustrated when your screen turns off when it shouldn't? Never Sleep seeks to solve this.

Once installed, you can create a list of applications which will prevent your phone from sleeping. If, for example, you want your display to remain on while using a PDF reader, simply add that app to the list. Piece of cake.

4. WhatsAppX

With this WhatsApp extension, you will be able to password protect WhatsApp conversation, hide message previews, save important messages, schedule reminders for later replies, and make calls from the app over your network, rather than Wi-Fi.

Yeah, it's good.

5. Gravity Box

If anything on this list can be thought of as an essential, it's Gravity Box. It's an all in one, the closest thing to having a ROM without the hassle of flash and losing data. It gives you the option to change many things, and change system settings without having to enter the catacombs of Android.

You can change the way you unlock your phone, customize the notification bar, menus, volume buttons, calls, colors, ie on practically everything! GravitiBoX [MM]  is available for Marshmallow but has only been tested on Android devices Stock (Nexus). Lollipop have  GravityBox [LP]  and KitKat  GravityBox [KK]

6. Android N-ify

And so we come to the reason you installed Xposed Framework: N-ify.

Android N-ify is experimental. Android N-ify has it's problems. Android N-ify will also add to your device features from the upcoming Android N before they are available to anybody else.

So far we have only a couple of features to play with: double tap the recent apps to jump to your last used app (an excellent feature which should already be standard), and also small descriptions for some items in the settings menu (another lovely feature). Install and support this project, please.

What are your favorite modules Xposed? Let us know in the comments.

You Can Now Send SMS Messages On Facebook Messenger

Facebook's Messenger app has slowly evolved out of Facebook chat into its own independent beast. Nifty new features are frequently added but they can sometimes be overlooked. The latest of these is SMS chat integration, which you can read about below. Get all your Facebook Messenger update news right here.

June 15, 2016 - SMS messages have now been integrated into the Facebook Messenger Android app, Facebook announced on its website. Instead of using a separate messaging app for SMS conversations, users have the option of including these texts in the Messenger app. SMS messages will appear in purple while Facebook messages will appear in the traditional blue. In addition, SMS in messenger supports rich content such as stickers, emojis, GIFS and more.

"We hope that this new choice will bring the convenience of being able to access all your messages in one place, making your messaging a lot simpler and helping you stay on top of your conversations," said Facebook.

This feature isn't enabled by default, you must go to the settings menu in the Facebook Messenger app, tap SMS and then enable Default SMS app.

Responding to why this feature wasn't in place on iOS, Facebook said, "iOS doesn't currently support app permissions for accessing text messages/SMS." Another win for Android.

April 21, 2016 - Facebook has announced that you can now carry out group calls on Facebook Messenger. Within any group conversation, just press on the phone icon to initiate a group call. The service is currently equipped to handle up to 50 people, suggesting a clear line of sight on this being used in the workplace. No word yet on whether this feature will be expanded to provide a video service, but with the feature in the works for WhatsApp, it seems safe to assume it will arrive sooner or later.

April 7, 2016 - A series of business-friendly updates are rolling out to Facebook Messenger over the next few weeks, the company announced, preparing the app for its dream of providing a cohesive way for businesses and their clients to communicate.

Thesechanges amount to more visible page usernames, shortened Messenger links and Messenger codes (like QR codes) that open chats with a business, and preset Messenger greetings that appear when a chat window is opened.

March 9, 2016 - Facebook Messenger has received Material Design, first introduced with Android Lollipop. This comes from a Tweet from David Marcus, the head of Facebook Messenger.

The user experience will not be affected as this is a purely cosmetic update. The blue bars at the top of the screen have a cleaner look. There is more space in the app which gives it a roomier feel. There is a new blue plus button that will serve as a way to start a new conversation. You can see the new design below.

February 11, 2016 - Facebook has begun testing some very notable new additions to Facebook Messenger, the first in some time.

The first new feature follows closely in the footsteps of Messenger's photo-sharing sister, Instagram. Multiple account support means that your friends can use your phone to check their Facebook messages, and people who use the social networking platform for work purposes will be able to switch between professional and personal accounts with much greater ease.

The other big change is SMS integration. This feature appeared on the Messenger app in 2012 but was removed after about a year due to low user take-up. Well, now it's back, in a testing phase, at least.

I'm in Germany and was fortunate enough to receive multiple account support. / © BizzleTechWorld

Facebook is testing these new features on an undisclosed number of devices, and there's no word on when or even whether we can expect to see a full roll out.

You can find out if you're one of the lucky ones by going to Settings > Accounts and seeing if there's a plus button at the top right of the screen that'll let you add extra accounts. If you've been gifted with SMS support, there should be an SMS option in the Settings menu.

June 25, 2015 - You can now sign up for Messenger without a Facebook account. To do so, you simply have to tap the 'Not on Facebook?' option on the welcome screen. All you need to enter is your name and phone number and add a picture. The option opens up the world of Messenger to people who don't use Facebook, which seems like a sensible addition for Facebook to have made at this point in time.

The benefits of using the service with a Facebook account are still evident, however, as it allows instant access to all your Facebook friends and messages and it allows cross-device access. If you only have a Messenger account, the app works more like WhatsApp.

What is Android? Here is a complete guide for beginners

There are Android phones, Android tablets and Android smartwatches, and you’ll even find Android inside some cars and TV set-top boxes. But what is Android, and what can you do with it? Read on to become an instant expert.

Android is Google's operating system for phones, mobile devices and other hardware. / © BizzleTechWorld

What is Android?

Android is Google’s software for mobile phones, tablets and a growing range of devices encompassing everything from wearable computing to in-car entertainment. It’s been in development since 2003, and today it’s the world’s most popular mobile operating system (OS).

As an OS, Android's job is to act as a translator between you and your gadget. When you take a photo, Android provides the button you tap and tells the phone what to do when you tap it. When you make or receive a call, Android tells your phone how to do that. When you play a game, Android tells the game what movements you’re making and what buttons you’re pressing. It’s like Windows, but for mobile devices.

The Android software itself is developed by Google, who releases major updates to the platform every year. Manufacturers which run Android on their phones include Samsung, Huawei, Sony, Lenovo, HTC, LG and many others; it's currently operational on more than one billion devices.

The Android mascot is a green robot: you might have seen it around.

Where does Android come from?

It comes from Google, who actually acquired Android in 2005 (no, Google didn't invent it). Android is based on the Linux kernel, which, if you have friends who work in IT, you might have been told about before.

What is the difference between Android and iPhone?

It’s not so much a difference between Android and iPhone but Android and iOS. You see, iOS is the software which runs on iPhones and the differences between this and Android are simultaneously big and small.

Smartphones with Android or iOS installed are capable of doing most of the same things: they can both run apps, connect to Wi-Fi, take photos, send messages etc. But there are many differences in how they look and feel, and the possibilities of both.

An iPhone with iOS (left) and some Android devices. / © BizzleTechWorld

Why does Android look different on each phone?

Android doesn't look different on every device, but it does have a number of different versions. Android is open-source, which means that manufacturers are free to customize the software and make it their own.

The "purest" version of Android is often referred to as "stock Android" and it's often preferred by the Android community: it's the original software as Google intended.

Other user interfaces include Samsung's TouchWiz, Sony's Xperia, and Huawei's Emotion.

There are many Android UIs, each with subtle differences. / © BizzleTechWorld

What does Android offer that other OSes don’t?

Choice. For example, if you want iOS, you have a choice of iPhone, iPhone or iPhone. If you go for Android there are stacks of great devices to choose from, from cheap and cheerful handsets to really impressive flagships. Those flagships are often cheaper than the equivalent Apple devices, too.

Android’s choice isn’t just about hardware. It’s about everything else too. Android is incredibly easy to customize, both in terms of how it looks and how it works, and the various app stores aren’t as tightly controlled as its rivals’ stores, like Apple.

What’s with the candy names?

Each new version of Android gets a code name based on consecutive letters of the alphabet. The most recent version is known as Marshmallow because it is the Android M release. Previous versions have included FroYo (short for frozen yogurt) and Gingerbread. You can read more about Android's history at the link below.

Android version 4.4 was also known as Android KitKat. / © BizzleTechWorld

What’s the best thing about Android?

Rooting it. If you root an Android device you can get into its most secret places and change anything you like. The possibilities are endless, and we’ve put together a beginners’ guide to rooting to get you started.

What’s the worst thing about Android?

Getting updates. In many cases manufacturers don’t seem to care about providing software updates for devices they’ve already sold you, and even when they do provide the updates they can take their sweet time about it. That’s one more reason to consider rooting: you can download the updates yourself and apply them instead of waiting for the manufacturer to get around to it.

What is Google Play / Play Store?

The Google Play Store is a digital marketplace where Android users can purchase apps, games, books, movies, music and more.

The purchased content is connected to your Google account – something you must have in order to make these purchases – and will thus be available on any device where you log in with your Google account.

The Google Play Store is where you find all of the available Android apps. / © BizzleTechWorld

What is an Android APK?

APK is short for Android Application Package (yes, we realize the letters don't match up), and it’s the file format Android uses for software downloads. If you’re sideloading Android apps, which means copying them across from a computer rather than installing them directly from the Google Play Store, you’ll need the APK file.

When you install an app from the Play Store, you're installing the same APK, one method simply lets the Play Store handle it, the other lets you do it.

What is Android TV?

Android TV is Google’s attempt to make existing TVs into smart ones. It’s tried that before with limited success, but now there is a range of devices that bring Google Play entertainment to your lounge room. Android TV isn’t the same as Chromecast, which is a device that you can stream TV programs to via the Chrome web browser.

What is Android Wear?

Android Wear is a version of Android designed for wearable devices such as smartwatches, and it powers smartwatches like the Motorola Moto 360, Samsung Gear S2 and more.

These apps are putting stock brokers out of business

Investment apps are democratizing Wall Street tools. In the past, high minimum investment capital, crippling fees and ridiculous commissions made it difficult to take control of savings. But a couple of apps are giving you the power. We interviewed representatives from two of these companies.

Now, you're in control of your money

Many old Wall Street companies make it difficult for small investors to get in the investment game. For instance, some financial institutions make you invest a minimum of $10,000 just to get your foot in the door. You might have to pay a 3 percent fee and another 5 percent on your profits.

But over the last few years we've seen the growth of new companies who are making it easier for you to invest in traditional Wall Street investment packages. One of those companies is Betterment and we spoke with its Director of Investment, Dan Egan, to understand what the company is doing different.

Dan said Betterment is an online adviser and wealth manager. "We do all of the smart goal based tasks that a financial adviser would normally do for 1/10 of the cost. Our customers pay between 15 and 35 cents for every $100 that we manage for them. We give them retirement plan advice tax efficiency features, etc." And its structure is tailored to your needs as an individual investor.

You can get a more personalized experience. / © Betterment

Personalizing investment in a human way

The company is also changing how you as a financial customer is treated. Many old Wall Street firms only care about their big customers and won't give advice to smaller investors. This makes it more difficult to make an informed decision.

But Betterment recognized this problem and shattered the marble ceiling that separates you from great advice. Dan told us that Betterment's “accessibility breaks the conflicted cost structure that plagues investment services. We are perfectly happy giving investment advice to someone who is investing $100”.

This is truly democratizing the way we invest. We can get personalized and thorough financial planning to minimize our risk and maximize our profits. It's no wonder that investors both big and small are getting in. Betterment now manages "over $4.7 billion for more than 165,000 customers across the US,” and is growing. But there is another component to this and that is smartphones.

Apps are making it even easier to control your investments. / © BizzleTechWorld

Investment apps are the future

Betterment has put a lot of work into its app and it already has some top-notch features for tracking and researching investment. The company is constantly updating it and sees a lot of potential in the future. You can download the app from Google Play below.

Another company, Investing.com, is using its top-rated app to give you the tools to track and make informed decisions on your investments. We talked to its Co-founder and CEO, Dror Efrat, about the app and its future in the investment game.

According to Dror, the immediate goal of the app is to "offer quotes, charts, calculators, calendars, etc and allow investors to make better and more educated decisions on their investments." Soon the app will have a "large economic calendar that will include articles and topics so investors can do their own research." You can get the app below.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is no longer a rumor

UPDATE: AT&T announce release, pricing, specs

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has moved from rumor to fact. The device, which focuses on those who want a device suitable for outdoor activities, will see release through AT&T on June 10. Find out everything else we know about the Samsung Active's release date, price, specs and features below.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will go on sale June 10 exclusively through AT&T. It is available in Sandy Gold, Titanium Gray and Camo Green.

There will be two choices of payment options: $26.50 a month over 30 months or $33.13 a month over 24 months, coming to $795 and $795.12, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active specs

With the announcement of the device's release through AT&T, we also got an official specs listing, which closely mirrors what we've seen in recent leaks.

The S7 Active has a very sizable battery, coming in at 4,000 mAh. That's 400 mAh bigger than the S7 Edge.

The 5.1-inch screen is Super AMOLED and has a QHD resolution, making it the same screen as the Galaxy S7 and the S6 Active, the predecessor to the S7 Active.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 820 backed with 4 GB of RAM – that's 1 GB bigger than the previous generation. We also see 32 GB of internal memory as standard on the device, with SD card support enabling this to be expanded up to 200 GB.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active features

The Galaxy S7 Active has the same weatherproofing as the S7 and S7 Edge, that is IP68. On top of that it offers a military-grade body (MIL STD-810G) and a shatter-resistant screen.

The camera system on the S7 Active comprises a 12 MP rear camera, which is 4 MP smaller than its predecessor. But this is not something we need to be worried about. Samsung did this with the move from the S6 to S7 and made up for the reduced pixel count with dual-pixel technology, which is exactly what the S7 Active does. The front-facing camera is 5 MP.

Android Wear 2.0 brings standalone apps, renewed focus from Google

Android Wear is soon to receive its biggest update since launch; Android Wear 2.0 was showcased at Google I/O, and it refines Google's attitude to wearables, focusing on three key areas. While it won't see release until the fall, you can find out all the details of the Android Wear 2.0 update below, along with news on the latest version of the Android Wear app.

android wear 1
If your smartwatch has been collecting dust, the new Android Wear update might revive it. / © BizzleTechBlog

It's important to note that there are separate version numbers for the smartwatch firmware and the companion app. Although they frequently rest on the same version number, the companion app is usually updated first. Android wear is built on top of the Android OS, so beneath the version number you will find either Lollipop or Marshmallow. Currently, version 1.4 of Android Wear is built over Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Android Wear 2.0 unveiled

The biggest release for Android Wear yet, version 2.0 brings a more refined approach from Google, narrowing down its aspirations for the technology. While the update won't be available until the fall, we got an in-depth look at what's to come during Google I/O, the company's annual developers' conference.

Most notably, Android Wear 2.0 will be able to run standalone apps, meaning the watch doesn't need to be in range of a smartphone for an app to work. This makes Android Wear more independent, striking out from the impression people have of smartwatches being expensive and unnecessary smartphone accessories.

With cellular support, Android Wear 2.0 will let you make calls, use OK Google, and more without relying on your phone being nearby.

At the I/O presentation, Google outlined its three areas of focus: the watch face, messaging and fitness. Watch faces are to be improved through allowing any watch face to show data from any app.

Messaging sees an improvement through handwriting recognition, smart reply, and a swipe-enabled keyboard. Google placed many of its products at I/O under the umbrella of its machine learning expertise, and here things are no different. All three of these input methods are held up by Google's AI. And, although a keyboard may seem a poor choice of input on a screen so small, Google hopes that its machine learning algorithms are powerful enough to predict the words you want based on just the first letter or two that you enter

When it comes to fitness, Google is providing interaction between fitness apps through the Google Fit API. This effectively allows apps to exchange information, such as calories burned and consumed, creating a more holistic experience. There's also activity recognition, so when you begin running, this can automatically be detected by a running app, which can begin timing your run, or counting your calories burned, for example.

There's also a Material Design overhaul of the Android Wear interface. This can be seen immediately in how notifications appear

An Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview is available right now, with a final build planned for the fall. Find out more about what's new, and how you can get the Developer Preview up and running, over at the Google Android Wear Developers page.

Android Wear 1.4 rolling out

On February 4, Google announced that it is beginning to roll Android Wear 1.4 out to all Android smartwatches, bringing it to the same version number as the companion app. The roll out will occur over "the next few weeks". The update primarily brings a new set of hands-free options. You will be able to navigate your watch using gestures such as shaking your wrist and quickly raising or lowering your extended arm – things best not done in public. Voice integration has been expanded as well, following in the footsteps of the app, with support for popular apps like Telegram, Viber and WhatsApp. Finally, there's additional speaker support, which allows you to make and take calls over Bluetooth, assuming you own a watch with a built-in speaker.

Find out all the details over at the Android Official Blog.

Designer watch faces released

You can now add some serious designer style to your Android smartwatch. Google has made nine watch faces from iconic fashion brands available. The range includes designs from Ted Baker, Vivienne Tam and Nicole Miller.

They can be downloaded now from the Google Play Store.

Version 1.4 of the Android Wear app is a relatively minor update. It adds improved voice features, such as the ability to send messages with your voice via WhatsApp and Telegram. It also brings battery life improvements, plus the removal of the battery life graph, which was notoriously unreliable.

A subsequent minor update, version 1.4.0.2470307.gms, reinstated the battery life graph.

Interactive watch faces released

In August, Google released three interactive watch faces that introduced a new single tap feature and watch-to-watch communication.

The three watch faces are Bits, Under Armor, and Together.

Bits shrinks the time display and surrounds it with circles that contain shortcuts to important information, such as the weather, upcoming events, and steps taken. Pressing these circles expands them, displaying more information.

Under Armor is the fitness watch face of choice. By tapping the watch face, you can cycle through your step count, calories burned and distance covered.

Finally, there's Together, which pairs your watch with someone else's and lets you share photos, doodles, emoji, and what you're up to at the time.

Google has also now set up a separate section for interactive watch faces in the Google Play Store, which boasts a budding collection.

Android Wear 1.3 update features

Google announced the Android Wear 1.3 update on May 19, 2015. The Moto 360 was the last to receive it, on June 18, 2015.

The improvements made by Android Wear 1.3 include Wi-Fi support, emojis, gesture controls and some new screens for app switching and rapid contacts. While not all devices will support Wi-Fi, the rest of the features will roll out to all devices. If you want to know the truth about Android Wear and Wi-Fi, check out our story at the link (and find out why the G Watch R will still get Wi-Fi)

WI-FI

Wi-Fi has lain dormant in Android Wear since the beginning, and flicking the switch will finally activate the full capabilities of some of the current crop of Android Wear smartwatches. This means that even when your watch is out of Bluetooth range, you can still communicate via Wi-Fi.

The only caveat is that not all Android Wear watches have a Wi-Fi antenna (even if they all have a Wi-Fi module on the Snapdragon 400). Don't expect Wi-Fi on the original G Watch or the Asus ZenWatch, for example. The Moto 360, despite being based on a Texas Instruments OMAP3 chip, which doesn't have a built-in modem, will still get Wi-Fi because Motorola was wise enough to add one in separately.

Emoji

You can now draw your own emoji on the screen of your smartwatch and Android Wear 5.1 will convert it into the actual emoji you were after.

Guestures Controls

The Android Wear 1.3 update adds gesture controls so you can simply flick your wrist to scroll through the stream (the vertical cascade of screens).

App picker and quick contacts screens

Perhaps the most useful new feature is a new app picker and quick contacts screen, which will appear in a side-swiping list alongside Google actions. When you tap the screen on Android Wear 5.1, you'll first see the app picker; swipe to the left and you'll see your contacts, and swipe left again to be taken to your Google commands.

That's all the key information on the Android Wear 1.3 update. Head below for our previous coverage.

Android Wear and Android Wear app 1.3 update features

Watch battery and storage management

Our friends over at Phandroid got their hands on the new wearable firmware and have shared a wealth of detail about what's in store. The coolest new feature is a section in the Android Wear companion app that lets you manage your smartwatch's battery and internal storage.

They're pretty much identical to the same sections you already have on your phone, but they're nice to have for your watch too.

Bring back dismissed cards

If you've been using Wear you know that you can occasionally get a little carried away with your swiping, and dismiss a card you actually wanted to keep. With the new Android Wear update, you can now recall dismissed cards simply by swiping up to reveal an Undo option.

Watch face management

Android 5.0 Lollipop has an included Wear watch face API, which means you can now customize, switch and manage your watch faces from the companion app. One of the nicest additions to the new faces is that weather icons can now be included on Wear watch faces.

Screen brightness options

This is awesome. I often leave my Wear device at home if I'm going to meet friends or hitting a movie theater, because having notifications constantly lighting up the screen is insanely distracting. Even the ambient glow from my watch face is enough to make people stare, especially in a bar or cinema. Now you can swipe down for a revamped menu screen that gives you options for Theater or Sunlight modes.

There's some other cool stuff too; accessibility settings for those with vision impairments and automatic sorting of menu items based on the most recently used ones, which means no more scrolling all the way to the bottom to get to Settings!
